When I was a teenager, I wanted nothing more out of a summer vacation than a week on the beach, tanning, and reading a good book or magazine. It was my perfect idea of relaxation and fun. Fast forward a few years later, and a day at the beach consists of chasing a toddler who loves stealing other kids’ toys, and has no fear of the water. Eating snacks on the beach? Only if London doesn’t get it first, and chances are it will be covered in sand. So when my parents offered us a week of vacation with them, Elijah and I jumped at the opportunity for two extra pairs of hands at the beach!
London usually does pretty well on long car rides, although I much prefer leaving at night when she will sleep the whole way. Ocean Isle Beach is only a three hour drive for us, so it was a short nap for her!
I mean, is there anything cuter than a baby with pigtails, wearing a bikini?
London is a huge fan of the beach. Just having all of that space to run around is her idea of heaven!
Here is a new one piece from this season, that was a great price on Amazon. I love the palm print, which is everywhere right now, as well as the lace up detail in the front and low back. A perfect combination if you ask me!
Link to my suit here. (These suits run a little big. I am wearing a small, and am normally a medium in bottoms and small in tops for most bathing suits)
It’s not summer without ice cream, and I chose salted caramel chocolate chip.. I usually go for anything chocolate, but had to try this one!
Someone inherited their love of ice cream from their dad!
It was so hot and humid that you pretty much had to lick it continuously or your face would end up like that.
One of my favorite summer meals, and a must for the beach, is low country boil, also known as Frogmore Stew. It is such an easy, yummy meal, especially when you have access to fresh shrimp. Through some sausage, potatoes, corn, and shrimp in one pot, and you have a perfect vacation dish!
It was a perfect week of relaxation and fun, despite some rainy weather. Although I always dread coming back to the real world and the to-do lists after a vacation, I wouldn’t give up the fun memories that were made, and creating new experiences for our family.
