Summer Trend Series: Blushing Beauty

I don’t consider myself a “girly girl”, but one color that is popular this spring and summer, and that I cannot stop buying, is blush.  It is a softer, more versatile form of pink, and it is everywhere right now.  You can find blush tones in blouses and dresses, heels and sneakers, and all of the accessories in between.  One thing I love about blush is that it gives your outfit just a touch of femininity without being flashy, or too overpowering.  If you aren’t a pink girl, and are trying out blush for the first time, try a soft top with some white jeans or shorts, and a neutral shoe.  This mix of light colors makes the perfect summer outfit for a date night out, or a Saturday trip to the farmer’s market!  For a bolder look, mix blush with other fun colors, like turquoise accessories, or a lavender dress.  Blush is a great “neutral” and can be paired with almost anything.  My favorite blush looks right now are in footwear, like a comfy pair of sneakers or suede espadrilles, but I also like incorporating it into my entire outfit.

I love this dress because it incorporates a few big trends right now.

Blush dress full length

It is a little bit girly with the lace at the bottom, and the cold shoulder is a fun feature.

Blush shoulders down

I chose a darker, more casual shoe, to help dress it down.  I didn’t want it feeling too formal.

Blush Shoulder

The lower back makes it a cooler option for those really hot temps, which have arrived in NC.  If you wanted to make something like this a little more work appropriate, or if a similar style shows too much skin for your taste, I would throw on a white denim jacket or a thin, loose-fitting neutral sweater.

Turqouise Tassel Earrings

And to play up the color aspect, I paired this dress with some fun turquoise tassel earrings and a bold red lip.  I will take any excuse to wear red lipstick, and it steps the whole look up a notch!

Rush to add some blush to your summer wardrobe, you won’t have to look far, and you won’t regret it!

    1. I think colored mascara could totally work with a neutral color pallet on the rest of your face! A pop of dark blue would really stand out! And that’s a great recommendation on the t-shirt post, I will add that to my list!

I'd love to hear your thoughts! Leave me a comment below!
